Welcome to Cub play cafe. We are a montessori and loose parts inspired play cafe that is suitable for children aged 0-6, however all ages are welcome.
Our indoor and outdoor play areas have been carefully designed and created by an early years professional. With a child focused approach, you can relax with the comfort of watching your child play safely and independently.
We offer a delicious cafe menu, serving local food and Tynemouth coffee. Enjoy our high quality sweet treats baked by the local L of a Bake and Bakery Box. Not to mention our outstanding scones, baked by Fares Fayre

Our
Story
Cub was created by an early years practitioner. Our idea was to put everything we love about early years into a setting where we can share our inspiration and love for montessori and loose parts play. We aim to offer inclusive resources and a warm, safe environment for families to enjoy together. We want to spread our love, knowledge and excitement about learning through curiosity and open ended play.
What is Montessori?
Montessori refers to an educational approach and philosophy developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. The Montessori method is based on the idea that children are naturally curious and have an innate desire to learn. It emphasises independence, self-directed learning, and hands-on experiences.
